Palau

In 2018, Palau was the first country to announce the ban on sunscreen containing ingredients such as oxybenzone and octinoxate, types of chemicals that absorb ultraviolet light. This law was placed in effect in January 2020, not allowing the sunscreen to be worm or sold within the country.

Hawaii

Going into effect January 1, 2021, Hawaii made history as the first state to ban the sale of sunscreens containing coral harming substances oxybenzone and octinoxate.

Key West

Beginning in 2021, Key West, Florida, banned sunscreens containing oxybenzone and oxtinoxate from being sold within city limits.

Aruba

In 2019, Aruba had officially banned oxybenzone. All imports, sales, and production of oxybenzone will be penalized.
